Ipê is one of the most popular types of decking wood. This type of wood is characterized by its beautiful and natural brown tone. When fresh, the heartwood is light brown to light yellowish-green, later darkening to brown to olive; sharply contrasted with the usually narrow, yellowish-gray sapwood. Ipê also has a very high durability class, which makes this type of wood above average for outdoor use. The natural area of origin is northern to central South America. The durability according to DIN-EN 350-2 corresponds to class 1 (up to 2), and can be used long-term without special protective measures. The term KD describes the type of drying used to dry the wood from a fresh state to 16-18%. In this case, it is technical drying in a drying chamber under controlled conditions. Ipê has a rather high swelling and shrinking behavior. The speed at which moisture is absorbed and released, on the other hand, is very low. The dimensional changes caused by swelling and shrinking must be taken into account when laying the decking. A gap of 4 mm must not be left when laying (with a wood moisture content of 16-18%). Hard metal-tipped tools are required to work the wood. Due to the increased hardness of the wood, working is significantly more difficult. The alternating spiral grain can affect the quality of the cut surface (rough surface). The wood must always be pre-drilled for the fastenings to prevent the fastening screws from turning off and also to avoid possible cracks in the wood. Wood is a natural product whose dimensions are influenced by basic physical laws such as temperature and humidity. This natural and rustic character, which makes wood particularly attractive, also results in certain limitations in the quality of the products, which must be consciously accepted. Despite the most careful selection of materials and the most modern manufacturing methods, the special features of wood described above, which are repeatedly observed in practice, must be accepted. These characteristics are uncontrollable properties of the wood material and cannot be complained about. Growth, color, structure and grain are unique for each tree. Deviations are due to the wood and do not constitute grounds for complaint. Minimal growth, shrinkage or warping is also possible in the end product! The natural properties, differences and characteristics must therefore always be observed. In particular, the biological, physical and chemical properties must be taken into account when using the wood. The range of natural color, structure and other differences within a type of wood is part of the natural properties of the natural product wood and does not constitute grounds for complaint or liability. Color differences are not a quality defect. They arise from different wood moisture levels, types of wood, wood structures, location of origin and growth-related influences. These color differences can even out again after a while due to various weather influences (sun, rain). Roughness, splinters, torn fibres - When planing and milling, despite great care and sharp tools, rough spots, splinters and torn fibres cannot always be avoided, especially in the area of branches or wood fibres directed against the processing direction. The visible side describes the side that you want to use as the visible side. The lower side and the two long sides, as long as the visible side is not impaired, are not taken into account. If one visible side of the goods is usable, the goods must be accepted. Regardless of the condition of the other sides (plane marks, plane burn, transport damage, not planed properly, etc.).
